Welcome

I am both honoured and delighted to be nominated as President of the Insurance Institute of Liverpool for 2012/13. With 2012 being the Centenary of the signing of the original Carter of the Insurance Institute, it promises to be a most exciting year.

The CII embodies many things for many people and its drive to increase professionalism and high standards within the sector is something I am very privileged to be a part of. As part of the local institute and Council, we strive to make the CII relevant at every level.

As well as our usual lunchtime lectures we will be looking to provide you with a schedule of events throughout the year which we hope will be interesting to both young and old, culminating in our Annual Dinner in January. The Dinner is always well supported and well regarded within the region and I am sure this will continue.

Recently, we have established a Young Members committee which we hope will drive on through 2012/13 and create a positive, exciting platform for our young members, both new and existing, to understand what the CII is all about.

Social events are always a great forum for networking, which is very important part of any local institute. There will be a number of events during the year and along with knowing more of your own insurance community and building your network, we hope you develop your knowledge and skills as well as raising money for worthwhile causes. Along with the great work that the CII’s own Insurance charities carry out, I have nominated Nugent Care as the President’s charity for 2012/13. You can find out more about the work they do in the local community by following the below link: http://www.nugentcare.org/

Many of you are aware of the local Institute and we have a number of welcome new recruits to Council this year. A special mention goes to my Deputy, Marie McAnaulty, who is moving from her role as Treasurer. In addition, all ideas and thoughts are welcome from any of our almost 1500 strong membership and please feel free to pass on any comments to myself, Marie or anyone from Council.

By working together we can continue to be part of a great institute that is ever developing and helping our profession.  As your President, I am looking forward to developing communication with our members and welcome any comments that anyone may have.

If you do have any views you wish to share on how the institute can help you please contact me on office@iil.org.ukThe more we put in, the more we get out.
