Dear Members
It is both a privilege and a pleasure to be nominated as the President of the Insurance Institute of Liverpool for the 2011/2012 session.
2012 marks the 100 year anniversary of the signing of the original Charter of the Insurance Institute, the purpose of which is to maintain the professional, ethical and technical standards of the industry. We will therefore try to make this year a very special one!
My first aim as President is to find out what our members actually want and need from their local institute. We will shortly be sending members a questionnaire covering many aspects of your local institute, the answers to which we hope will give us an insight and ideas as to how we can best take things forward. Please help us to help you by completing the questionnaire.
As a PFS member myself, my second aim is to look to providing more support for our PFS members in the Liverpool area. We are currently looking at providing a more structured program of CPD events appropriate for PFS members in Liverpool. I would encourage all PFS members to complete the questionnaire so that we can find out what you want and need from your local institute.
Over the coming year, we will continue to provide a varied and interesting programme of quality lectures, seminars and workshops on topical and technical subjects.
We will also focus on education with the aim to give as much help and assistance as possible to our members who are taking their professional exams.
Our social calendar is full and varied. The focal point in the calendar is the Annual Dinner, which will take place at the end of January and provides the opportunity to mingle with colleagues, business partners and fellow professionals. It also enables us to celebrate our young professionals when we announce the Young Achiever of the Year. At the Annual Luncheon in October, we recognise the examination success of our members and get together in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Social events are a great forum for networking, which is a very important aspect of the local institute. They also provide a platform for us to raise much needed funds for charity. Along with raising funds for the Insurance Charities, my chosen charity for this year is Mencap Liverpool. You can find out more about why I chose this charity by clicking here:
We are fortunate to have an experienced and dedicated Council, but would welcome new Council members to help to bring new ideas and talents to help us develop. If you are interested in joining our Council or have any new ideas or suggestions, please do contact me or any of the Council Members.
Finally, I very much hope to meet you, over the course of what promises to be a very special year.
